Designed for relaxation between safari activities
At Shimungwe Lodge, our shared spaces are designed for relaxation between safari activities. The intimate four-suite lodge overlooks the seasonal Timbavati riverbed in Thornybush Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem.

The swimming pool and reclining daybeds offer a peaceful place to cool off during the warmer hours of the day. Wildlife can sometimes be seen moving through the riverbed below.

Our comfortable lounge includes soft furnishings, wildlife books, games and television. Guests can relax, read or share stories from the day’s game drives while remaining connected to the surrounding bush.

Wooden walkways and stone paths connect the four suites with the open-air bar, dining areas and traditional boma. Freshly prepared meals are served in a variety of settings, including outdoor spaces overlooking the riverbed.

In-room spa treatments can be arranged through a third-party service provider at an additional cost. Advance booking is recommended; requests made after arrival are subject to availability.

Evenings are often spent around the boma fire, reflecting on the day’s wildlife sightings beneath the African night sky.
